The Denomly Diagnostic

Diagnosis before the build.

Everyone sells the build. Almost nobody sells the decision. A business that does not yet know what to build cannot brief a developer at all, so the first engagement is a diagnostic: understand how the company really works, then produce a plan worth executing.

Why AI projects die

Every business has a documented process, and it is the clean version of reality. The real routing lives in people's heads: which customers skip the queue, which referrals get a same-day reply, which industries go to the one person who knows the language. Automation built on the clean version works most of the time, the team quietly reverts, and the project is recorded as delivered but never used.

It is not an AI problem. It is an opportunity selection problem. Surfacing the undocumented judgment is slow, human work, and that is exactly what a diagnostic is for.

One to three weeks. Five steps.

01

Set expectations

Kickoff with leadership, every interview booked before we start. The sponsor tells the organisation to be candid.

02

Interview

Sixty minutes each, recorded. Never “what AI do you want.” We walk one process step by step until the real one appears.

03

Identify

Where time is lost, where work is repeated, where people are waiting. Twenty or more candidates, each traced to a source.

04

Prioritise

Value, feasibility, payback, risk. The fourth test is the one most often skipped, and the one that hurts.

05

Present

A short readout and working prototypes. The question at the end is which one do we start with.

The bias is speed to value: we lead with what ships in four to six weeks, not the most ambitious item on the list.

One document your board can act on

Discovery

Who we spoke to, what we examined, what we were given access to.

Diagnosis

The ranked opportunity register. Every finding with its source, its annual value with the arithmetic shown, and our confidence in it.

Roadmap

Now, deliverable in four to six weeks and priced. Next, sized. Later, named. Each item mapped to real build days.

Ongoing

What it takes to keep it working after launch, priced up front. Never a surprise raised at the close.

Short enough to be read by the person who has to approve it. Nothing asserted that we cannot trace to something someone said.

Each step earns the next

The qualifying call is free and short: it decides whether a diagnostic is the right engagement, and we say so honestly when it is not. The diagnostic itself is a fixed fee, agreed before we start, and it credits in full toward your build when you proceed. A diagnosis you cannot act on is not worth buying.
